Car Driving Down Pikes Peak

Besides hiking and taking the cog railway, visitors can take a two lane road up to the top of Pikes Peak. The winding and twisting 19-mile toll road gives drivers and passengers a spectacular view of the Rocky Mountains, with many different pull out points to stop and take in the view.
The road is also home to the famous Pikes Peak International Hill Climb where competitors try to get up to the peak as fast as possible. Started in 1916, the record time to the peak is 7:57, set by Frenchman Romain Dumas in his Volkswagen IDR in 2018.
