The La Sal Mountains run along the western side of the Rocky Mountains with its highest elevation coming at Mount Peale at 12,721 feet. The range formed between 25 and 28 million years ago and is made up of igneous or magma rocks and is one of the younger mountain ranges around the Colorado Plateau.

Today it provides the perfect backdrop for our travels in Utah on the way to the Grand Canyon.
