D&RGW Steam Locomotive No. 683

$29.99

Denver and Rio Grande Western steam engine No. 683’s claim to fame is being the last surviving standard gauge steam engine. Built in 1890, No. 683 arrived on the railroad just as the D&RGW’s line between Denver and Salt Lake City opened. It would spend a lot of its operational time pulling trains up and over both the Rocky Mountains and Continental Divide and the Wasatch Mountains in Utah. No. 683 was retired in 1955.
